Undefeated pound-for-pound champ Floyd Mayweather Jr will fight Marcos Maidana for a 12-round world championship unification bout on May 3 at MGM Grand Arena Las Vegas Nevada.

While Mayweather defeated Saul Alvarez in a record-breaking pay-per-view fight in Las Vegas last September.

Maidana is coming off the biggest victory of his career after defeating Adrien Broner in their WBA Welterweight title fight last December, said he’s already training for the Mayweather showdown, a fight that would surely give him the biggest paycheck in his boxing career. Maidana surprised boxing fans with his unanimous decision over Broner. His hard-hitting approach would potentially cramp Mayweather for room, although the American has proven himself a master of countering such tactics.

Mayweather vs. Maidana, a 12-round world championship unification bout for Mayweather and Maidana’s respective 147-pound titles, is promoted by Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions. The event will be produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV and is the third fight of a lucrative six-fight deal with SHOWTIME Networks Inc.
